Do you seriously not know what the term "core dump" means? And anyway, I believe it's supposed to be a play on words because of the new "core" repository.
I am a gated community.

I was personally very disappointed to not see "don't panic!" when I booted. core dump is clever but I was hoping to finish the trilogy before arch switched.
Offline
Now it would have been more fun if they changed it from "Don't panic!" to "Panic!". :-)

I think no matter what the code name is, "Don't Panic!" should greet us at every console login.
Offline
Keeping with the current trend, maybe the next code name should be "Oops I Did It Again"?

It's a bit wordy. How about these:
aww snap
catastrof**k
meltdown
segfault
snafu
...

Anyone else get the sense that some linux rookie (with minimal programming experience) is going to successfully install Arch, then spend hours trouble shooting an odd "core dump" message. Then when they finally think to look at the forums or wiki, they don't find it funny and leave Arch.
"Oh, they have the internet on computers now."
Offline
No but I really like Core dump.. Sounds hardcore.. But the mother of all names (or should I say father?):
"I am your father!"
--Edit
OOh.. Just found other ones:
"Scream!"
"Newtonian"
"Sacrebleu"
"Jippie Kie Yay"
"Eat my shorts"
"Dope!"
"Vivian" -- dont ask me..
"Wormhole"
"mommy"
"Swift Pasta!"
"Anti gravity boots"
--phew.. damn.. I just spitted out names like a machine gun.. I think I was possessed for a while..

The ultimate Archlinux release name: "I am your father"
Offline
How about: "Kernel Panic", "Page Fault", "Divide By Zero", "Stack Overflow", "Sorry Dave", "Retry, Cancel, Abort", "Clippy for President!"
Call me crazy, I like error messages as release names.
Edit: Need a Matrix quote: "Only Human"

I'm a moderate, it's the mainstream that's extremist.

"Sorry Dave"

I think 'Meltdown' would be appropriate for one of the next versions!

Specialty to be flame-proof, and yet still cause serious medical concerns for people? Eh, I'd pass on that. XD

Asbestos causes cancer . I would feel slightly uncomfortable .

accepted... What other flame-proof-materials are out there? "concrete", sounds bad... is carbon flame-proof?

Yea, I like some derivation of this... "I changed my mind, PANIC!"

But isn't Linux a cancer; so wouldn't it be fitting that a release of ArchLinux(Asbestos) would give it to your hardware?.. terminally
Yes, that was in fact a cancer joke based off of a Microsoft marketing statement with a pun bonus multiplier at the end. You saw it here first.
