BTW, does anybody know how I can get rid of that last symbol in my Conky (after the date and time ?-)

I think that is what Conky does when a font can't write a certain character...

Check to see that the font your are using has the character that you used in your script, available in it's characters.

For example... the font that I link below, doesn't have a few important characters like these:

 / [ { ] } \ ~ < > ` |

http://www.dafont.com/illegal-edding.font

First off, it's difficult to fix your .conkyrc script with out you posting it...

But I would guess... that when you closed the bracket of your "time" section (the part where you changed the color of your time and date to yellow)... you might have closed it wrong so it is displaying a random character that your font might not be able to write... and since it's the last part of your TEXT area, it is written at the end... I would look at how you closed that bracket, especially the part with the yellow font color... because your missing character is "yellow" also.

I also noticed that you used the:

 |

... character between your different sections like "CPU:", "NET:", and "MPD:"... but it looks like you're missing one between "MPD:" and "PCM:" so maybe something got screwed up there if you tried to separate that part with a piping sign as well...

Conky's doing this because of some encoding problems.
If you copied the script under windows (notepad) and saved it and then export it to Linux, then you'll have a good chance of having that character...

What you have to do is, under Linux, open an editor (I use geany a lot, for example...), select UTF-8 encoding and recopy your conkyrc in this new file and then save by overwriting the old one, this should do the trick...

I don't know if that was clear... (I'm an unclear person...:))

I've got a thousand different sessions going (kdemod, kdemod+compiz, awn+compiz, awn+openbox, xmonad, etc), but so far this is my favorite:

Openbox theme: Promise
GTK2 theme: Murrina Duo Clean
Avant Window Navigator
xcompmgr

It's really fast, but pretty at the same time.

Getting the graphs for both cores is pretty easy.  I just read up on the conky variables.  Whenever you do use a CPU based variable like $cpubar or $cpugraph you just set the cpu/core you want as an attribute for that variable.

${cpubar cpu0} is the total of every cpu (default), ${cpubar cpu1} is for the 1st core.  ${cpubar cpu2} for 2nd core and so on.

Usually the loads are split pretty even among the cores, but sometimes you can see an app that uses one core more.  When I use amarok for example it seems to use one core more then the other.  It's interesting smile

All you need to do is put the CPU name after anywhere it says cpu

Example

$cpu0 $cpu1
