I don't know if this is a bug or I miss some files in my Gnome installation, but trying to leave a message from the screensaver's lock does not work. I have tried it in Ubuntu 7.10 and it works correct.
I have installed gnome and gnome-extra packages and those are the daemons I execute on my computer:
syslog-ng network acpid crond postfix portmap dbus hal avahi-daemon sshd netfs gdm cups alsa iptables mldonkey vsftpd sensors ntpd famd
I don't know if I have to execute another daemon or if I need another package.
Also, the new evolution does not offer the backup facilities that appear in the first menu of the Ubuntu version. Does anybody knows where the problem can be?

Gnome-screensaver works for me (in XFCE). Have you got libnotify installed?

You need to install notification-daemon. This daemon is started when you login.
For the backup feature: Evolution 2.12.1 has it on my installation.

Thank you very much, I installed notification-daemon and now I get the messages!
For Evolution, I have 2.12.0. I suppose I must wait until 2.12.1. Thanks again.
