mpd+sonata: Queue support?

Hello,

I knew about mpd and sonata here, in arch forums, and I know that a lot of you use mpd and a client, so I hope someone can answer my simple question.

Some time ago, when I used XMMS (and beep) I could select some songs in the playlist and press 'q' and xmms enqueued them. When the song I was listening to in that moment finished, xmms started playing the next enqueued song and so, until no songs where left in queue. Then XMMS continued playing the playlist.

Does sonata have a similar feature? If it doesn't, is any other mpd client able to?

Thank you smile

I don't think sonata has this feature, it is in fact the only thing I really miss in sonata... Maybe you can post a request to the developer(s)?

Re: mpd+sonata: Queue support?

sonata 1.3 with mpd-svn supports this

Playlist queue support (requires mpd 0.14 - currently mpd-svn)

from http://sonata.berlios.de/changelog.html

Yea, this was my main problem with sonata/mpd too, waiting for mpd 0.14 to hit the repos (i can't compile mpd-svn for some reason).

Are you using versionpkg to compile it? It compiles fine here.

And for what it's worth, here's a screenshot of queue support in sonata:

Re: mpd+sonata: Queue support?

I changed pkgver to 7034 in the PKGBUILD and it built fine: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … =1&ID=1911

edit: stonecrest: what's the song formatting code for the queue? %Q didn't work.

Also, does anyone know how to make Sonata not display the {} for optional tags in the column title?
I just want to have Artist - Track:

Right, that's what versionpkg does for you.

There is no song formatting code for the queue, it automatically shows up when you queue something.

filed! smile

edit: stonecrest: wow, only now i realised you're the only Sonata developer. Excellent app, it has all the right features (not too bloated, but not too minimalistic either like gimmix) and elegant indeed. Great job big_smile

Re: mpd+sonata: Queue support?

Does anyone know what the keyboard shortcut for queueing songs is? Didn't find in the changelog or the documentation on the website.

Also: thanks, stonecrest! Sonata is the best MPD client around!

Ctrl+E for queue, Ctrl+Shift+E for unqueue.
