I've been having this error message for a couple of days now..pointers?
Now; I've checked the version of openssl that I've installed:
openssl version
OpenSSL 0.9.8f 11 Oct 2007
And all seems ok, right?

Nope.
$ pacman -Q ntp openssl
ntp 4.2.4p4-3
openssl 0.9.8g-1
Those are current.

pacman -Sl | grep ntp
community openntpd 3.9p1-4
extra ntp 4.2.4p4-2
extra printproto 1.0.3-1
extra xf86bigfontproto 1.1.2-1
Should I force an upgrade?

I was trying to avoid using the force command. But I used it anyway.. and all seems to work fine.
For future reference, here is what I did.
pacman -Rf ntp
...success.
pacman -Syu
...success.
pacman -S ntp
..success.
The updating and upgrading works like a charm. *Solved*
