It may be helpful for everyone involved if you specify whether:
* you are running a Composite Manager (e.g. Xcompmgr, Compiz, Compiz-Fusion, or Beryl)
* you have AIGLX enabled in xorg.conf
* you have composite enabled in xorg.conf
* you are using fglrx or the open source radeon driver
No need to post here, just keep these in mind when posting in relevant threads.
Personally, I haven't had any problems with the latest Xorg and fglrx (aside from fglrxinfo not working), but then again I'm not running any composite managers or extensions.

I have to side with thayer here: not a problem for me, and I am running fglrx too. Admittedly, my desktop usage isn't graphically intensive.
For completeness, because I don't follow the forums all that well anymore, could someone help me understand where the "issue" lies?

No problems here either. Im running compiz fusion (using nvidia drivers) and GNOME.

My mirror synced tonight, did the upgrade, USB mouse wasn't working on this lappy, but Xorg's log and the forums here helped out on that
. I've seen upgrades go worse.

Everything is running stable as always, the upgrade go unnoticed in my system, even the num lock and caps lock lights on the keyboard go on and off, I found this to be the most annoying problem upstream and is fixed. Also, performance wise everything is really good. I guess I make this post for everyone to see, that is not the majority that are having problems, like some are stating in the forums.

I'm using Xorg 7.3 and fglrx. Radeon 9600. I need to disable AIGLX and Dual-Head in xorg.conf to get everything working right. Hopefully next fglrx release will be better.

Just for the records: working fine here using nvidia with kde3 and kde4 beta, no composite managers. ![]()

AIGLX is enabled by default now, isn't it?

I have issues on this. Compiz is not working at all. I've got a nvidia card, everything set up correctly. If I start the composite manager in Xfce4, I cannot work anymore. The screen flickers until I stop the session. I don't know why this happens.... I'll post my xorg.config later today.

i'm using the open source radeon driver - no display problems yet, but java apps don't work anymore. I had to add the sloppy lock export line to .xinitrc. i also got a message about nvidia-utils related to libgl that didn't really seem applicable. O.o
the only minor problem i've encountered is I used to switch Esc with Caps Lock in ~/.Xmodmap with:
remove Lock = Caps_Lock
keysym Escape = Caps_Lock
keysym Escape = Escape
keysym Caps_Lock = Escape
add Lock = Caps_Lock
and now that no longer works. does anyone have an alternate way of doing that?

Someone told me you should have separate xmodmap lines for that in rc.local with the new Xorg, that should solve it.
May I warmly suggest the people posting problems here create a topic of their own, instead of hijacking this one? ![]()

yeah, sorry - no hijack intended. ![]()
turns out there's a thread and fix for this problem, here:

I seem to have a similar problem where xmodmap -e 'clear Lock' doesn't work, unless I do it inside X. (right now it's in .xinitrc)

I just updated my system and I got a totaly different problem, using nvidia. I don't really know how to describe it, so here's the last lines in the log:

RaisedFist, dont use two screens.
While I had some trouble with this version (as can be seen on the forums), that was probably due to a buggy EDID. I have a radeon 9200, and everything is smashing now -- AIGLX and Composite enabled.

just update two machines with different NVIDA cards but the same most recent driver. One machine has test enabled in pacman.conv, which did a kernel upgrade as well. Non test machine has a bluetooth mouse, keyboard and widescreen monitor. I have had no Xorg problems at all. Additionally, probably not related to the X upgrade,a USB mic started working with skype on the machine with test enabled; probably just coincidence.
my thanks to all involved.

xorg 11R7.0-1
xorg-server 1.4-5
xf86-video-mga 1.9.100-1
After upgrade mouse pointer vanished(no xorg changes, no composite, tried AIGLX on/off) and there are slightly smudged stripes where font doesn't look sharpest (best seen when bg is black and fg is white). Solved my mouse pointer with half days sweating (vga driver was OK, mga was faulty), using xcursor 3D cursor and mga. Haven't found workaround for stripes(or stars
) (slightly disturbing to eyes, but workable), as this is my work computer I have not much time to mess around.
