Title says it all - after the upgrade my X did not work anymore.
in the log I see the FireGL is recognized but then it says: "No Screens found".
Is this expected or should this driver work with FireGL?

This is, unfortunately, expected. FireGL support isn't due until November's release, 8.43, and I would have stuck with 8.40 except it doesn't support the new xorg-server which just rolled into [extra].
You're going to have to downgrade, I'm afraid.

Hello!
I have the same problem on a ThinkPad T43p with a FireGL 3200 - and a little question:
Does this mean, that we have to wait for a new fglrx release that supports the FireGL's?
Or are there any workarounds?
Thank you!

There are hacks to make it work with FireGLs, I just don't know them. Check out the forums at phoronix - I think that's where they're described. I'll look around for you later if you can't find anything

Here's one of the hacks from phoronix forums, it's a little convoluted, however, the patch provided does enable support for FireGL cards in 8.42.3.

Hello!
Thanks to all who responded - first i decided (after checking the fglrx workarounds) to switch to the xorg opensource ati driver.
Got it successful installed and configured for one screen, but failed for dual head setups.
So i downgraded again to fglrx and wait for the next release of the binary driver fglrx.
And here is another question:
i checked ati and the forums and found what cerebal also told: the current (unpatched) fglrx dosent work for FireGL cards;
and in the forums most people say "they wont wait for the november release" - what i dont unterstand:
is it for sure that the next ati fglrx release works for FireGL cards? i dont find any statement like that on the ati pages or ati wiki pages.
