How do you get that funny looking prompt? What shell is it? Can you share your \.*shrc? smile

It's bash. Here is my ~/.bashrc

http://pastebin.org/7123

Does that bashrc bug a lot at your place too? I have a lot of incidents where some text gets stuck and i have no idea what command i'm about to execute^^

Edit: Did a little research to find a way to reproduce this error. Try doing this:

$ cd ~
$ vim .Xdefaults
<:q!>
<up-arrow>
<ctrl+u>

See? Part of the text remains. Any idea how one could fix this? The prompt is too beautiful to go to waste.. smile

same here neutral , it may be an error in the escape sequences, but its so much to look at, and I can't really tell. It's a really nice prompt though, kudos justin smile

I can't take any credit for the prompt, it's someone elses handy work. I haven't had the problems you are having, but tomorrow I will try to recreate your problems and see if I can't come up with a solution. smile

I am very glad to see people are intersted in my screenshots though, I spend a lot of time trying to make Linux beautiful, it really helps people to make the leap.

The problem is much related to the history of bash. Up/down arrow makes this happen a lot. I t seems like the prompt (in my case) needs 9 characters of space. And the previous command gets stuck in these 9 spaces. Hard to explain.. smile
