Can't come back from suspend/hibernate

I'm having trouble coming back from suspend/hibernate. I've already set "resume=/dev/sda5" in the Grub kernel line but no success. I've also put "resume" in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf's HOOKS.

Here's some possibly relevant info: I'm using the Grub boot options "noapic" and "nosmp" (as I also did to install Arch) in order to have Arch running right in my laptop (without freezing).

Any guesses?

See eeeuser.com for some discussion of the issue.

Why should that help me? My laptop is not an Eee PC.

Re: Can't come back from suspend/hibernate

What exactly is the problem?  Is X corrupted on resume?  Does the screen stay blank?  Does it ignore the save file?  Are you using uswsusp, suspend2, acpi, apm, pm, or hibernate to suspend?

What hardware do you have?  Old radeon chips require radeontool, while newer intel 8xx/9xx chips often require that you use vbetool.

Thinkwiki has excellent advice on its "screen stays black on resume" that lists every possible combination of tools you can use to try to get it working.
