nvclock doesn't remeber it's settings

I have been trying to use this tool to keep my fanspeed down so as to keep the noise down, but after a little while the fan speed just shoots back up to 100%. The overclocking that I told it not to do just keeps getting reinstated. How can I get this program to remember it's settings and enforce those settings for longer than about 30mins? I've tried running it as root and as my own user but either way the problem is the same.
