A gentle reminder to those of you voting in the election at the end of this month to contact your MP hopefuls and question them about the software patent issue.

pfft like they would even know what software is. their view would likely be whatever the corporations tell them ( be it MS Apple or some sort of *nix corp)

voting is the only exercise i get besides typing.n i always vote in every election or by-election. I have never, at least federally, never voted the same way in consecutive elections (i think twice liberal (both lloyd axworthy in two different ridings eight years apart), once national (remember that party), once PC, ( maybe once NDP too but i don't remember)) I will never ever vote for the current incarnation of the conservatives as the majority of them and the main controllers of the party are bigotted in many ways. as i said to jason ... why would i vote for a party that out right lies to my face with their slogan (ie "new" conservatives)

But yeah, even I've noticed, there does'nt seem to be too much talk about software patents here. :?:

Polish delegation in EU Council (whatever it's really called I never remember :-)) is going to vote against this time!. After they agreed for Germany's proposal (which said yes to software patents with some modifications) many Polish linux users (and not only) made a big noise about it in the media and on the net with good results (election time is coming :-)). You can read about it here http://kwiki.ffii.org/?Pietras040520En So there is a chance (if you calculate votes) that at least in EUC the software patents will lose.
