pidgin is mute [solved]

I installed pidgin from the repos, do you have the sound files and can you hear the sounds if someone writes you a message or something?

I can, but I have to use a 'custom command' and enter 'aplay -q %s' into the box, I think - I'm at work right now so I'm not 100% sure that's the line, but it's close to that.

under Tools make sure the Mute Sound box is not checked

yes I use aplay %s under Sound settings [Preferences]

yeah, aplay -q %s is working fine (even though it's kinda quiet).
