Firefox extension to open embedded videos in an external player

I've tried a few browser plugins (mplayer, totem, etc), none of which actually work.  Is there an extension for FF that disables videos embedded on pages, and sends the stream to an external video player?  Thanks.

try this one :  MediaPlayerConnectivity

It works very good with VLC , but allows other players also

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

(A works at time B)  && (time C > time B ) ≠  (A works at time C)

MediaPlayerConnectivity is one of my "can't live without" firefox extensions. It works great with stage6 and mplayer.
