So if this is a freebsd only issue, why are you posting this on the ArchLINUX forum?

Somehow I have symptoms like missing mouse pointer, no xv and flickering screen on Arch Linux. As I haven't found any discussion in Linux world I posted the references I found.

Nevermind, downgraded to packages
xf86-input-keyboard-1.1.1-1.pkg.tar.gz
xf86-input-mouse-1.2.1-1.pkg.tar.gz
xorg-server-utils-1.0.3-6.pkg.tar.gz
xorg-xkb-utils-1.0.2-1.pkg.tar.gz
xorg-server-1.2.0-5.pkg.tar.gz
xf86-video-mga 1.4.6.1-1
as I didn't need new features anyway. At least at first glance everything is back to normal.

The version for matrox driver in Arch is 1.9.100 - if you have a problem with that one try this in the 'device' section of your xorg.conf:
Option "ShadowFB"
