So, half a year ago I bought this computer, it came with Vista pre-installed. It wasn't long before I found out about Ubuntu (perfect for the new user!). I started knowing NOTHING. to me, computers were a foreign language. As foreign as Timbuktu. I could 'use' one, but only to the extent that windows would allow. (which at the time I had no idea what groovy stuff Window's had been keeping 'secret') I'd also like to add that I am a poor anarchist who can't afford to buy software. this is the anarchists plight The command line instantly sparked my curiosity. I've spent the last 6 months training myself for this. my curiosity has finally overcome my reason....
alright.
so I'm ready to download my ISO and get a disk ready
I've printed out a hard paper copy of the noob's install wiki
I've studied said wiki thouroughly
I can't spell thoroughly correctly the first time.
I have 16 beers, 18 cigarettes, 2 days off.
I'm going to the dark side of the moon.
hopefully when I get back, I'll be running a fully operational Arch OS with a Gnome desktop.
make that 14 beers.
And 17 cigarettes.
I'd be lying if I were to say I wasn't nervous, I am far more scared than I was when I gave up Windows! This is like jumping off of a sinking ship (Vista) into a life boat (the glory that is Ubuntu), and then jumping out of the lifeboat out of pure curiosity.
for educational purposes you can all expect a full report if this works... or if it doesn't.
Breathe.
Zen
Go!

And we hope to see you back here of course, even if your Arch install only works 50%. We'll help you fix the other half .
