Since kernel26suspend2 has been removed from the repositories, I'm wondering if it's possible to run a custom kernel patched with tuxonice? currently the mkinitcpio hooks do not seem to work with it as they are based on suspend2 and look for it in /sys/power/suspend2, and it's /sys/power/tuxonice with a tuxonice patch.

I run kamikaze (kamikaze26kernel in AUR), which has tuxonice.

This does not change the fact that the hooks do not work (at least for me)...

yes same issue..i use kamikaze but haven't spent time to think how to make it adapt. the wiki is sorta outdated so no help there either..will take a look at the tuxonice documentation when i have time.
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

If you spend the time to configure and compile a patched kernel, then just compile it so that you do not need an initrd/initramfs at all. Tuxonice works very fine without any initrd.
Anyway, I would also post a bug for the mkinitcpio package about this. Even if arch does not provide anymore a tuxonice kernel, this is not a good reason to cut the mkinitcpio support for self-patched and configured kernels including the tuxonice patchset (also because I think that it is a trivial matter of replacing any 'suspend2' string with 'tuxonice' in the hooks).
