upgrading Azureus?

Hi, Azureus is nagging me on every start that a new version of it exists and that it wants to download and upgrade itself. I have denied that so far because I don't want a package to bypass the package manager.
But so far there still has been no updated azureus package and so I'm beginning to wonder if that might be the suggested way. I mean i guess it could only update itself in my homedir and therefore actually can't mess with the azureus package itself, right?
I dunno, question is, is it safe or even supposed to use azureus' internal updater or not?

Re: upgrading Azureus?

same problem here. I don't mind to bypass pacman, so I let azureus update itself. The problem is not solved. Every time i load azureus it wants to update....aways....It's not a serius bug, but it's itchy

Re: upgrading Azureus?

I avoid this problem installing with pacman only swt and installing from http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ in a user directory thus azureus have permissions to update itself.

Edit: Actually, in this moment, I'm using deluge and I don't miss azureus.

Re: upgrading Azureus?

Why don't you simply turn it off? Go to Tools->Options->Interface->Start and untick the "Check for latest version when Azureus starts" and "Check for latest version periodically" checkboxes.
