One thing I noticed is we dont really have any screenshots of AL, so if we all post ours here maybe the gods will make use of them on the www.archlinux.org.
To us that are in the know, yes a desktop will look the same no matter what distro if u want it to.. but you know what end users are like... and we get to laugh at each others desktops in the mean time.

I remember Gentoo Linux also had one topic for members' screenshots. Most common desktop (x-windows) was Fluxbox. On AL it seems to be Openbox. I support it .
Here is my Openbox screenshot:

my latest and greatest (?)
- KDE 3.1
- Aqua all the way
- Windows fonts
- Phoenix without xft ... does anybody has a working mozilla/phoenix build with xft?
apt-get install arch

There's some option in /usr/lib/mozilla-1.3b/unux.js (?). I do not really rememeber and I'm not at home right now - run `locate unix.js`to find it. For mozilla, it's somewhere in /opt/mozilla.
Oh, well... I'l post its exact path and option you need to change later tonight.

// TrueType
pref("font.FreeType2.enable", true);
pref("font.freetype2.shared-library", "libfreetype.so.6");
// if libfreetype was built without hinting compiled in
// it is best to leave hinting off
pref("font.FreeType2.autohinted", false);
pref("font.FreeType2.unhinted", true);
// below a certian pixel size anti-aliased fonts produce poor results
pref("font.antialias.min", 10);
pref("font.embedded_bitmaps.max", 1000000);
pref("font.scale.tt_bitmap.dark_text.min", 64);
pref("font.scale.tt_bitmap.dark_text.gain", "0.8");

//pref("font.directory.truetype.2", "/u/sam/tt_font2");
//pref("font.directory.truetype.3", "/u/sam/tt_font3");
that part
It's very straigt forward, find the code, enable xft and point to a tt font dir. Startup mozilla/phoenix again and make it use the right fonts. (of course you need the xft2 package)

Ok guys. I finally broke down and put up a screenshot of my laptop. While the AL install is new, the desktop itself was built over time. The color scheme may seem odd but it works well on my little laptop.

Hey JK.. how the heck did you get that setup on your openbox screenshot?
I want to try to duplicate it as it looks wicked.. but i'm not sure how.
I bought a dog the other day...I named him Stay. It's fun to call him... "Come here, Stay! Come here, Stay!" He went insane. Now he just ignores me and drools.

it's just Openbox with Steelblue or steelblue3 as style, and idesk for the icons with Transparency: 130
Then i run docker which takes care of the gaim icon (right-bottom)
