Pidgin colours...

Hi,

I have a strange issue in Pidgin my text sent is the same colour as background ie black on black ... tried different settings in Pidgin but starting to think its a theme problem

Also my contacts are sending messages and they too are in the same colour text and background

Now I am not sure if its a gtk issue or Pidgin?

Gtk theme is Divinorum a dark theme

Are you using the plugin called Conversation Colors?

Re: Pidgin colours...

That's what I had to use when I had the same problem you are having.

Does your .Xdefaults influence pidgin?

Re: Pidgin colours...

Divinorum's {gnome,xfce}-look.org page has instructions for dealing with this.  The GTK+ Theme Control plugin does exactly what this fix does.

Create a new file called .gtkrc-2.0 in your ~/.purple directory.

Mine looks like this:

style "purplerc_style"
{
    GtkIMHtml::hyperlink-color = "#33CCFF"
}
widget_class "*" style "purplerc_style"

style "Custom"
{
    base[NORMAL] = "#292B29"
}
class "GtkWidget" style "Custom"

The key bit there is the base-changing one.  It will set a non-black background for your conversations.  Also, you must go into pidgin settings and disallow other peoples' conversation colours to affect font colour.
