i've had this problem for a while but put it off because i don't have any problems with audio playback, just with alsa saving the volume settings. when i try to run alsa as a daemon i get this error:
:: Restoring ALSA Levels [BUSY]
/usr/sbin/alsactl: load_state:1313: Cannot open /etc/asound.state for reading: No such file or directory
and i check and that file isnt there. is there something i can run to regenerate this file? i've had this problem since i installed arch about 2 months ago.

'alsactl store' will generate it.
