AUS Mirror server mirror.aarnet.edu.au

Hey guys, (Particularly Australian and NZers)

Just to let you know mirror.pacific.net.au server has been down recently due to them expanding their server capacity.  I emailed them regarding the archlinux mirror.  Archlinux was orginally mirrored as part of their Ibiblio mirror archive and not synced all that often.

Mr. Marshall from pacific.net.au has kindly emailed back to inform me that "archlinux is somewhat more popular than most of the ibiblio distros content, so we're sourcing that independently from the rest of those distros."

Archlinux is now independently mirrored on their server. So hopefully it gets synced more often.
Here are the new mirror addresses for archlinux on mirror.pacific.net.au:

HTTP:    http://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/archlinux/
FTP:      ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/archlinux/
RSYNC: rsync://mirror.pacific.net.au/archlinux/

Devs may want to update the download page and pacman conf files for their next release.

Regards,
Paul.

You might want to post that on the bug tracker or on the ML. Devs don't read the forum much.

omfg! I love you!

Finally an up to date and reliable australian mirror. And what's better, is it's the mirror which I have have the fastest download speeds and greatest reliability.

Pacman at 700kb/s is an awesome sight.

I <3 Pacific!

Re: AUS Mirror server mirror.aarnet.edu.au

just to let all the aussie's know, there is another australian mirror thats sync regularly (though don't know the frequency)
I'm using it as my sync and its pretty up to date.  Found it while browsing the repo at uni.

ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/archlinux/

For all that don't realise, this is hosted in Canberra on the Research and Education Terabyte Array Infrastructure.  I think this is part of the fibre links between universities?  Anyway when I update i get around 3MB/s at uni.

Re: AUS Mirror server mirror.aarnet.edu.au

Awesome, I get great rates on aarnet too smile

Has it been posted on the bug tracker to be added?

Also... it'd be good if a few more people asked PlanetMirror, http://public.www.planetmirror.com/request/ I've made requests, offered donations but have yet to get so much as a response sad

James

edit: Planetmirror do have an arch mirror, but it hasnt been updated for years.

Re: AUS Mirror server mirror.aarnet.edu.au

yep iphitus, just posted on the pacman flyspray just then FS#8699.

I found it randomly (was browsing the archive for something else) and saw the archlinux directory.

Would've thought, if they were mirroring it, they'd tell someone?  Maybe they did.

Re: AUS Mirror server mirror.aarnet.edu.au

Well, that mirror was added three months ago on http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mirrors ... and it's included in the mirrorlist for pacman 3.1 for 2 months now.
