64 bit packages in i686 repos?!?

Just another day with pacman... I thought.

[root@lysithea stijn]# pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
 borromini is up to date
 core is up to date
 extra is up to date
 community is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
warning: pan: local (0.132-1) is newer than extra (0.14.2.91-3)
resolving dependencies... done.
looking for inter-conflicts... done.

Targets: libgphoto2-2.4.0-3  unzip-5.52-3

Total Package Size:   1,42 MB

Beginning upgrade process...
:: Retrieving packages from extra...
error: failed retrieving file 'unzip-5.52-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz' from ftp.belnet.be : File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access)
warning: failed to retrieve some files from extra
error: failed to commit transaction (unexpected error)

This must be the weirdest error I've ever seen on Arch. Unless my system has 'upgraded' itself to a 64 bit one overnight.

Re: 64 bit packages in i686 repos?!?

i dont know, if my problem could be related to this, but since the latest update, unzip doesnt work for me, gives me the error: "/usr/bin/unzip: /usr/bin/unzip: cannot execute binary file". btw, i have a regular 32 (x86 its called right?) bit system.

Re: 64 bit packages in i686 repos?!?

Figure there is a mixup in x86/x86_64 repo entries.

Mebbe we need to specify the opposite  package to get the right one!!!!!!

Re: 64 bit packages in i686 repos?!?

The error has been fixed a couple of hours ago. You'll need to wait until your mirror sync.

Re: 64 bit packages in i686 repos?!?

You could have also solved this problem by building unzip from abs.

Re: 64 bit packages in i686 repos?!?

For future reference, you can always use:

$ pacman -Syu --ignore unzip

To ignore unzip until your mirror resyncs

Of course, but that's not the point. It ain't Gentoo after all? The point is the package ended up on the wrong repo. Unzip is not critical either, so...

But as was said above, I should have filed a bug about this, not mentioned here smile.
