About Scribus package downgrade request

I've made a bug report but I'd like to post it here, just in case devs miss it.

http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/8403

The Scribus team seems to have miscommunicated the status of 1.3.4 version. That version is actually a development version, and not considered production-ready. I had much trouble with it a few days ago, and would like to ask the package maintainer to downgrade it to either released 1.3.3.9 or 1.3.3.10svn if possible. I've talked to people on #scribus and they recommend those versions as production-ready latest stable.

TIA

FYI - we never miss bug reports, it simply does not happen. That does not mean that they are always acted on promptly, but it does mean that they are always read by at least one dev.

We do, however, frequently miss forum posts, as we don't always have the time to come here.

I have assigned the bug to the scribus maintainer, Tobias Kieslich aka neri.

Re: About Scribus package downgrade request

Now I've got a little problem with Scribus.

Thing is, I've made a few leaflets using the 1.3.4 version that I have to edit now and the 1.3.3.9 version can't read it because of different file format.

Luckily i didn't pacman -Suy on one of my machines, so i still got the 1.3.4 version but i can't export to older format and work on my portable, it would be great if 1.3.4 went to unstable (as Branko Vukelic have suggested in the bugreport) and not got deleted.

I can't find it in AUR also...

If you do not have it on the pacman cache on one of your machines, you can always build it yourself with the help of ABS.

The sources are located here.

I'm surprised you managed to keep 1.3.4 running long enough to save anything worthwhile! wink

i don't have much free space on my / partition so i clean the cache rather regularly so i sadly don't have it in cache (i'm starting to wonder whatever to remove option from rsync so it won't delete files from my mirror...)

as for building it myself, i did it and it doesn't work with the files i created earlier (!)

it could be the result of compiler (or configure) flags, but then it would be *really* weird,
anyway, where i can find PKGBUID that was used for building scribus 1.3.4?

to be honest, i'm lost, an exact same version of a program and one is reading the files and second is not, when only difference is that one is compiled by me (with default settings) and the second one is from repository

Re: About Scribus package downgrade request

If you don't mind a 12Mb email, I still have the 1.3.4 .pkg here.
