Java plugin

I had the blackdown-jre plugin linked to firefox and had installed jre from sun and extracted it. I exported system java to the latest but the browser plugin was blackdown. There were no conflicts as jre for amd64 does not have a plugin. After the recent spate of upgrades, firefox keeps crashing every time I go to a page which has a java applet.

I had to remove the symlink nd now it does not crash but does not display the applet nor does it display anything about missing plugins.

Any solutions. No lib32 stuff for me.

This thing actually functions for you? On my box it will start to load the applet, then do nothing. The output on the command isn't throwing any errors.

Re: Java plugin

I ran so more tests, and it looks as if Java 1.5 and down functions. Hmmm... I'm up to Flash 7 and Java 5. I'm almost there!!!!

Can these be used to run programs like frostwire and bootchart which require jre and j2re respectively? Im guessing just a symlink is required?

Also to get the java webplugin to work do I have to install aur/gcjplugin 4.2-1 or does it work just with java-gcj-compat package and gcc-gcj java installed and also a symlink here? Can you tell which files  I have to symlink for all these to work as well if needed.

thanks

edit: okay I see that the pkgbuild is supposed to do the symlinks, but no real results with some java sites i really need.
