Is there a way to remap copy/paste keyboard shortcuts ONLY?

I use the dvorak keyboard layout and I like it, but I want to change the keys that do the windows-style copy/paste (currently ctrl+c / ctrl+v), as I find it to be a awkward when on dvorak.

edit: However, I don't want to change anything else about the keyboard layout.

This is actually possible in kde, but it does not affect gtk apps. I would like a way to do this at the X-server level, if possible. Ideas?

(Yah, I do know about middle clicking, ctrl+insert, shift+insert, but what I want is to change CTRL+C / CTRL+V to something else...)

You can try out xbindkeys. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Hotkeys

I am actually a user of xbindkeys, but I need something to generate the ctrl+c and ctrl+v key combinations. If there is such a program, I could invoke it from xbindkeys. I tried xvkbd, but it doesnt copy and paste when I tell it to do a ctrl+c / ctrl+v.

Hm, there might be something with that scancodes and keycodes thing on the wiki page you linked... I'll have to check it out.

To know recursion, you must first know recursion.
