Re: [Request] libmtp

The package has already been flagged out-of-date, it looks like. If you really need it asap, try out ABS:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ABS … ild_System
Basically, you can get the PKGBUILD for this, update the version and md5sum in the PKGBUILD, and use makepkg to build yourself the up-to-date version (tested this on my box, the package builds no problem).

Re: [Request] libmtp

You should not be renaming files within a package. Those libraries have a version number for a reason.

Recompile your amarok packages, I've done the same, libmtp 2.1 here.

If you're lazy, you could symlink the library to make amarok stop complaining. But it's still dirty.

wel again too stupid sad

with recompile you mean pacman delete and then install again?
cause when i install it it searches for it and sets it right, no right?
Or i have to install with an own PKGBUILD like libmtp ?

Re: [Request] libmtp

Yes. You grab the pkgbuilds from abs for amarok-base & amarok-engine-xine just like you did for libmtp, and you build them.

i tryed it and all works compiling, install, programm itself the only thing now amarok doesnt shows me to chose mtp device in the media player section?
What did i wrong ? In my PKGBUILD i used the --with-libmtp but it doesnt work sad

i used the newest source for it from here http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/kde/stable/amaro … .7.tar.bz2
and heres my PKGBUILD link as you can see in the contributor line from wich i took my "base" PKGBUILD smile

thx for help

ps: maybe some mod can move this to an section where it will suit it more ? cause it is really of topic now?
When yes i will change the subject smile

Re: [Request] libmtp

Eisu...

I told you to recompile both the amarok package and the engine. This pkgbuild shows just one build. Use the Arch ones please, abs has them all laid out for you. You don't need to change anything, just run them.

The reason why i used another was that i was ah little in hurry and i havent seen the right link at first so i used the first source and PKGBUILD google "gave" me.
Anyway in the end it haven't saved any time so sorry that i didn't invested more time in searching/reading.
But now i used the right source and PKGBUILD and all went well smile
Thank you again and sorry for my acting ...

edit: one more quiestion to use my mp3-player with mtp i have always tu use amarok as root what can i do to use it as normal user?
and yes im in the storage group

Re: [Request] libmtp

No worries... It's just the best to stick to what Arch does until you understand the implications of the changes you apply.

You should be able to use amarok with your MTP device as a regular user. Afaict I didn't have to set up anything special to make it work...

Re: [Request] libmtp

I'm using libmtp 2.1, all works good here. My iRiver Clix is in for repairs now, but last time I transferred stuff to it was like two weeks ago... No problems at all.

So try 2.1, if that doesn't work, check if you're in the 'storage' group, I have a feeling you are getting access denied ('Die Operation ist nicht erlaubt'). That could indicate a permission problem.

Re: [Request] libmtp

Sorry man, i'm out of ideas. If it works as root, what you could do is add a udev rule to make the device 0660 and root:storage, that should fix it.
