remote server client?

hi guys,

i was wondering.....i've been running arch 64 on my desktop, and 32 on my laptop for a little while now, haven't really posted since i first started with it. its been running solid for me. anyway, my question is. what could i use to host a remote desktop server on my desktop, so that when i'm at home with my laptop, i can sit on my couch with my laptop and use my desktop from there wirelesly, more or less so that when i download anything or whatever, it stays on one machine

any suggestions?

Re: remote server client?

ssh (with X forwarding if required), vnc, freenx... there may be other options too.

Re: remote server client?

I use the ssh/vnc combo along with vncviewer-jar on my desktop which no longer has a screen.

My vote is for FreeNX and NXclient (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/FreeNX), it doesn't feel like you're sitting remote at all.
