Widescreen framebuffer?

I have a desktop with an nvidia card and a widescreen monitor, 1680x1050 native.

vbetest returns a max resolution of 1280x1024.

Is there any way to achieve a console framebuffer of my native resolution? I've looked into uvesafb, but the readme is leading me to believe only the reported vesa modes are going to be supported.

Also to note that I use the nvidia x drivers, so I believe nvidiafb is out of the question.

What are my options here?

Re: Widescreen framebuffer?

I found somewhere the info to check with "sudo hwinfo --framebuffer" for available Modes, but sadly it didn't list my native resolution, so I can't say if this works, but perhaps it gives you a positive result.
