Applications dieing

Recently I have been seeing Pidgin 2.2.2, Audacious 1.4.2, RXVT, and other various X-apps die. Searching my /var/log messages I see this:

Re: Applications dieing

ah ups sorry forget about that one,
you get oom-killers that is mostly happen when you ran out of memory

Re: Applications dieing

The stack shows out of memory
also these line are visible in logs.

Free swap  = 0kB
Total swap = 996020kB
Free swap:            0kB

How much memory do you have in you system and how much do you use...do you use application which may eat up a lot of memory.

[EDIT] I took a lot of time to reply. Ignore this post.

What changes did you make to the system before you started seeing the problem?
Are all the X applications dying in the same way?

Re: Applications dieing

Start your system as usual, and let top sort by memory usage (M key). Anything interesting?

I have filed a BUG  FS#8767 and also discovered that it was audacious-player-1.4.2-1 that was eating memory up
