Experimental mach64 DRM patch

Hey all,

I got fed up with DRI not working by the stock kernel lacking the mach64 DRM module. So I backported it from drm-git to 2.6.21. If anyone still has a mach64 card and would love at least some 3D acceleration,

here it is:
http://kth5.archlinuxppc.org/drm-mach64-2.6.21.patch

Build kernel package for i686:
http://kth5.archlinuxppc.org/kernel26-2 … pkg.tar.gz

I tested this only on my machine so far but I would like to hear of the results of others.

Be aware of the fact, that if you would like to use DRI/GLX with these cards, you have to have at least 8MB VRAM to be able to even enable DRI for 1024x768-16. This doesn't leave much VRAM to actually upload textures and thus may slow down things a lot because of texture swapping. Either run at a lower resolution or your card has 16MB - which is the most VRAM i've seen on mach64 cards so far.

Re: Experimental mach64 DRM patch

Next version will include to actually implement the proper cleanup in drm_init() after X shutdown. Whenever you shutdown X with the patch as it is right now, it might not come up again and you have to reboot your machine.

Since I'm a little in a rush to get some sleep, I'll do it later. Sorry about that! wink

Re: Experimental mach64 DRM patch

I too would love to see Mach64 DRI working with Arch. smile

Many thanks to all who contribute to Arch!
