Sdlmess how do I make it work?

So I download sdlmess create my default home folders.

Next I get a what I presume is a bios bit from here http://www.emunews.eu/mess.htm

So if I get for example gamegear.zip
Now I presume I just need to place this in ~/.mess/bios still zipped.

Next I get a game img, so I now place this in roms.

Now I've also copied all the hashes from /usr/share/sdlmess/ and the artwork into my home sdlmess folders.

Now I presumed from here I just invoke like this..

sdlmess gamegear -cart .mess/roms/nameof.gg

But I must be missing something,
Device cartridge load (nameoffile.gg) failed: File not found

I've googled but am really struggling to find configuration details for sdlmess, the closest I get was this page, http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Co … _Emulation which seems a little dated as mess is no longer the command plus I've also used my home.

Could someone please point me to some documentation on configuring sdlmess or perhaps I'm making an obvious mistake.

A little bump

Can no-one help or point me to some decent docs, I've googled and googled and I'm no closer to finding any docs.
