usb hub

hello,
i have an usb hub that worked in the past (with arch) but now is sort of dead-alive.
there are two leds on it: one is red and is on when the hub is powered. the other one is blue and is on when the hub is really working. when i turn on the computer, before booting, the two lights are turned on, as it should be all the time. but when linux loads, the blue one just turns off (the red keeps on whenever the hub is plugged in)... when udev loads, or when i run lsusb, it turns on again, but right after it lights off... if i disconect and then reconect, i have the same result: light, and no light.
with the blue light off the hub power the devices connected to it, and just that. it doesn't work.

i'm unsure about when it stopped working... i imagine that the issue have something to do with udev rules and stuff, but i can't figure out how to solve this.

lsusb output:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 045e:0084 Microsoft Corp. Basic Optical Mouse
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0606 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 Hub / D-Link DUB-H4 USB 2.0 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

the mouse works just fine.

any ideas??
