Hi everyone, I just had a painless install and it kind of bothers me that this is my first post... but I guess I can compete for the dumbest question ever.
Is there a way to reset the layout / toolbars in konqueror? In an effort to add a web search area, I managed to mangle EVERYTHING. I can't get the navigation panel to show up, and I can't get the toolbars to fit in any way other than one on top of another.
I think I need a giant reset button. Would it be possible to remove konqueror and reinstall it?
Thanks in advance!

that won't help, your settings are stored in ~/.kde so if you rename that folder you'll get a fresh start.. you will loose all your other kde-related settings though

Nuking ~/.kde is popular, but unnecessary: there's ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/ and ~/.kde/share/config/konquerorrc

alright, that helped. I tried renaming these files, but that didn't do anything. instead, I logged on as root and copied that .kde folder over. Aside from acquiring all of the root's settings, have I done anything that could harm my system?
Thanks again

The permissions on all your files in .kde will be wrong. Change them with as root chown -hR your_username:your_username /home/your_username/.kde
---for there is nothing either good or bad, but only thinking makes it so....
