Yahoo forcing me to use crappy web 2.0 beta page with Arch + FF

Whenever I use Arch + Firefox to go to Yahoo! and check my webmail there, they tell me my browser is not supported, and force me to use the "web 2.0" crappy beta page.  They did this before when I was using Firefox on another distro.  If I log in and check my webmail, they memorize that I'm using the "web 2.0" interface, which I HATE, and then make me use it when I log in from any other (Windows) computers.  If I'm on later logged in using a Windows machine, they offer to let me change back to "classic view", but that option is not available under  linux.  I've been paying for an email account at Yahoo for about 6 years, and I am going to dump them if I cant use the old HTML classic view.  I hate all this javascript web 2.0 stuff.  I'm surprised they aren't forcing me to use the HTML view, since my browser is "unsupported".

Anyone else forced to use the Yahoo Beta page?

No. Still using the old style in Arch, Ubuntu, and Windows on multiple PCs. I have a:

Yahoo! is getting a makeover. Check it out.

link to the Beta at the top of the page, but I've never clicked it. Have you tried this link:

http://cm.my.yahoo.com/switch

Also, it sounds like you may have a cookie issue.

You can change the user agent (identification) with a plugin for Firefox and make yahoo believe you use IE7 if you want to, e.g. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59

My user agent is:

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.10) Gecko/20071201

I really don't think the issue is with the user agent. Yahoo randomly 'forced' users into the new format without notice (I luckily was not one of them), while others clicked on the link to the Beta without knowing how to get back when they decided they wanted to revert. The issue was ranted about on the Yahoo boards for a while. The main problem was that the 'revert' link disappeared from the Beta site after only appearing for a short time leaving users wondering how to get back to the old-style MyYahoo format. The link I provided is the one that originally appeared on the Beta page. I've not had to use it, but I believe it works.

Using the "switch" link let me switch back, it seems like it isn't going to force to use the beta page again.

I might use the other ideas people posted in case this happens on another website.

Yahoo seems to be going in some wrong directions lately.

thanks!
