a simple question from a new user.

hello, just installed arch on a spare dual P3 cpu machine, i love it! The fact that NOTHING is installed (well almost nothing) from the off meaning you have a system ready to customize is what i have been looking for.

Anyway...

I now want to install arch on my asus eeepc.  It strikes me that due to the limited storage on this device arch would be ideal as i can build my own minimal system.  I have read the entry concerning installing arch on an eeepc on archwiki and it suggests that you can run the xandros kernel (with the xandros modules) on your arch system.  Is this as simple as it sounds? i.e.:

1. install arch
2. download the kernel and modules from asus.
3. install them in the places specified from inside the deb package
4. edit grub to load your new kernel.
5. reboot

I have been using linux for about a year and i am at the point where i am starting to play with the kernel so excuse my naivety.

Thank you!

yes i did.  but it does not cover my question.

edit: oops sorry, there was one clue in one post...

it all seems plausible however the guy needed to make the 'initrd' files.  Im not sure what that means...TO GOOGLE!
