any archlinux dedicated server hosting deals that are similar to ...

Hi guys,

I found a deal that I like: http://www.meganetserve.com/dedicated/valueservers.html

I want that deal, but I also want archlinux, and not the centos, fedora, and debian that goes with it.

Does anybody know anybody who might be willing to match the meganetserve offer installed and supported with archlinux?

Feel free to send me any pointers or information for that, at erik.poupaert (at) gmail.com, or post anything here or PM stuff to me concerning this.

I want an alternative good deal with archlinux with similar characteristics and similar price (49 USD/month).

Thanks
Erik

Just signed up and slicehost have Arch as a default now.  Seems to work fine.

Linode supports Arch, and seems to be more cost-efficient than slicehost.  I've heard good things about them, but have no personal experience.

forgive me if i am missing something, but why can't you run your own arch server, or is there some advantage that i am unaware of?

If you want a dedicated server, I doubt Arch is as, well, "tried and true" as debian stable or freebsd...

I think the advantage is in the bandwidth, most people at home don't have ISP accounts that can support a web server, not to mention its against the rules for my ISP, they have a special web hosting package that cost a lot more then standard service.

Thanks, bandwidth was the only advantage I could see.  But surely you only need the huge bandwidth if your running a gaming server or something demanding, surely not for webserver unless your expecting 1000's of hits a day.  Never thought about an ISP not allowing a webserver, why would they be against that.  Although i must admit my last ISP was agains't me having a mail server.

Thanks for filling me in smile

Thanks. This reply was really helpful to me. I am trying out a linode server, and it looks ok up till now.
