Video playback problems

I have strange video playback problems across many media players. I am using the experimental xf86-video-intel driver and compiz-fusion-git.

For one thing, VLC does not display video and I can only hear the audio. totem displays videos in black and white. Miro, recently, has also taken to displaying some videos in black and white.

I am clueless as to the roots of this problem. Any ideas?

Re: Video playback problems

I found the intel driver doesn't like xv output.  In VLC go Settings > Preferences > Video > Output modules and set X11 video output. See if that works.  If it does you can do similar things to totem using something in the gnome-media package (can't remember what exactly of hand...)
