hello!
i have a big problem. after a system update a few minutes ago the system won't start anymore. it shows me the following error message:
:: Loading root filesystem module...
Attempting to create root device '/dev/sda5'
ERROR: failed to parse block device name for '/dev/sda5'
unknown
ERROR: root fs cannot be detected.
and drops me to the recovery shell. i downgraded to the kernel26 2.6.23.8-1 with the help of the arch install cd, but the error still appears.
any suggestions?
thanks, mfg iggy

I get the same error, also downgraded, and also still get the error. My kamikaze kernel works, but it would still be good to know why this appears.

hey!
i solved it! i booted into my system with the help of the install/rescue cd and found out, that a package was missing - klibc-modules-init-tools, installed it and then reinstalled the new 2.6.23.9-1 kernel.
i can boot my system again! juhu!
