Headphone jack

When I ran Ubuntu with one of my older computers I used the following command to get the headphones to work correctly with my speakers:

I was wondering if that would still all work with arch (of course using su, password, pacman -S instead).

Re: Headphone jack

Arch is much more bleeding edge than many other distros, so building the newest alsa driver from source (if that is what fixed your issue) will not be necessary. as Arch surely has the latest stable version already.

Re: Headphone jack

But if it didn't, all those dependencies will still be there?

Re: Headphone jack

The default Arch kernel already includes a patch for ALSA 1.0.15 - "alsa-20071124.patch.bz2"

Edit: Yes, Arch contains those packages. "-dev" packages are split-off packages created by Debian, as an artificial splitting of a package in two. Distros such as Arch simply do not split them in two. So we can recompile packages without having to hunt down and install a load of "-dev" packages first.

Re: Headphone jack

Well the default kenrel isn't working so I'm running the command. Everything goes fine until the part that goes "/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/ubuntu/media/snd-hda-intel/". It's obvious because there is no file like that; however, when I look around in /lib/modules/2.6.23-ARCH, I can't find snd-hda-intel anywhere.

Re: Headphone jack

Okay, well I fixed that and was able to get the headphones to work properly. Then I had aumix up and clicked the record spot next to PCM (there is only Master and PCM) and it all stopped and it wouldn't let me undo it. Alsamixer still let's me control PCM but there is still no sound from headphones.
