[Solved]how do i access AUR?

I tried many times so Im sure Im not just entering the wrong password but I cant access AUR. Ive been looking for a package upgrade and I can't find it in the default repos. I thought maybe I can find it in AUR. but I cant go access it.
Am I missing something?

P.S. the package Im looking for is crystal 1.0.5. If anyone knows where I can find a package of it, it would be really great.

Re: [Solved]how do i access AUR?

LOL, I think u better read up on AUR, pkgbuild, ABS system first. Then install yaourt and use that as a wrapper for pacman with AUR support.

to put it bluntly, the AUR is nothing more then a repository with bash scripts that u can d/l and run. These scripts will d/l the source code and compile the program for you into a binary that pacman can install like any other package in the supported repositories. <-- yaourt in the AUR is one of those programs that will simplify this process immensely

you can browse AUR through http://aur.archlinux.org
To know more about AUR this would be a good start: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR_User_Guidelines

Re: [Solved]how do i access AUR?

djre: Read the first post in this thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=25718 to learn how to install yaourt.

I think the package you are looking for is this one? http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … s=0&SeB=nd

You'd install it with

yaourt -S kdedecor-crystal

Re: [Solved]how do i access AUR?

Your AUR account is separate from your forum account (you don't have one just because you have the other). Also, you don't need to login to browse/search packages, just click "Packages" at the top-right of the page.:D

Newbie Corner
New to Arch? There are no stupid questions here!

As others have said, you'll need to resgister your user name and password on the AUR page, though you do not need to login to browse the packages.

Re: [Solved]how do i access AUR?

djre: click on the AUR menu tab above on this page. Then once u are on the AUR page there is a sub-menu that will have a tab that says packages. Click on that and u will have a searchable database of all the AUR packages.
