Hello, with the version of Openoffice of Archlinux it is impossible for me to open Office documents 2007 (docx, xlsx, etc.). Does anyone know why?

Because official openoffice sources don't yet have the filters to open those formats.

Novell has a converter to do this. I don't if it will run in Arch. This is a post about it:

I made a arch i686 package from skottish's link.
http://makaveli.x10hosting.com/myfiles/ … pkg.tar.gz
I'm not sure if it will work though since I don't have a docx file or access to a MS Office 2007 installation.

Just search for 'sample docx files' and you'll get a bunch of hits.

anyway, abiword has basic support for it

Here are the sample files shipped with office 07 http://openxmldeveloper.org/articles/Sa … t2007.aspx
Can you upload the PKGBUILD to AUR if it works?

thanks sinister99 for the link. I don't think it works at least with those files. openoffice just told me the file is corrupt.
I can however prepare a patch that adds ooxml support for openoffice but it will apply and build on the unstable development version of openoffice.

ooxml support will be included in openoffice 2.4 releases (at least that's what I've read somewhere). Is that correct ?

I've been able to convert a docx document to simple doc document today with this online service. Not the ultimate solution but helps sometimes.

I doubt that. At least not without the Novell patches.
Edit:.. It seems some filters have been checked into the official sources but they aren't very functional yet.

Hi,
does anyone know if/when OOXML 2007 documents can be edited in OOo or Abiword under Archlinux? I used to have Ubuntu on my work laptop and there is an Automatix installer for the plugin that works really well but have since switched to Arch and this is one of the few features I really miss since M$ Office 2007 is our primary office suite at work.
thanks,
stefan.

Hi. I recently discovered GO-OO. It seems to be an OpenOffice.org fork with some nice features like OpenXML integration, Gstreamer for media in Linux, and many other things http://go-oo.org/discover/, but I didn't try it yet.
