Kiba Dock!!!!!!! ARRRRGGGGH!!

Hi

Please please can someone give me an idiot's guide to getting Kiba Dock working?

I have read the Wiki 100 times and tried both manually and using the script at the top of the official forums (Using SVN repos both times), but the damn thing just WILL NOT WORK!!!! (I get a LOT of fatal errors when trying to start it)

Please help

Ok here we go:

Running these commands:

PKG_CONFIG_PATH=$PKG_CONFIG_PATH:/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig
./easyKiba -u

Gives me this:

I am unable to run Kiba Dock by simply entering kiba-dock.

I can do this but get an error:

usr/local/bin/kiba-dock
/usr/local/bin/kiba-dock: error while loading shared libraries: libakamaru.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I can run /usr/local/bin/kiba-settings/ but get this:

** (kiba-settings:28595): CRITICAL **: kiba_prefs_get_option_from_file: assertion `prefs->file_content != NULL' failed

** (kiba-settings:28595): CRITICAL **: kiba_prefs_get_option_from_file: assertion `prefs->file_content != NULL' failed

about 1,000 times and then the kiba settings GUI appears.

u need to start with the first error u get, so u need to find out why its not loading libakamaru.so.0

is kiba-dock a script or a binary? Some scripts need to be marked as executable for them to work.

maybe someone else can help more

edit: its a binary

Re: Kiba Dock!!!!!!! ARRRRGGGGH!!

why are you using kiba-dock-svn? whats wrong with kiba-dock? development versions work but normally have problems and are not for people who don't expect to be fixing errors all day.

I guess it doesn't exist: the official site points to the sourceforge-site, and there are no files released (yet). That usually means that the software is not suitable for the betatester-audience. That could explain why it is such a pain to get it to work.

Zl.

Avant Window Navigator
way better than resource hogging kiba-dock.
it's in AUR  avant-window-navigator-bzr and awn-extras-bzr
