Capture videos for Youtube

Hi,

I want to put some videos on Youtube. I'd like to record them using my laptop camera. I already got it working. I'm looking for good software. Any suggestions? I want to be able to record with audio of course. It's probably gonna be something GStreamer related.

Thanx for advices

How about Cinelerra? I'm not sure it's that easy to use, but I've heard good things about it...
It's in the Community repos.

Re: Capture videos for Youtube

You can use FFmpeg and capture straight to Youtube compatible FLV/MP3 (Flash 7).

Re: Capture videos for Youtube

I checked with google and that led me also to Kdenlive, Kino and LiVES. Any experience with that?

What I want is basically record audio+video and save it as something Youtube uploadable. I play guitar and want to try this for example. I can do it with audio but never tried with video and linux before. For now even one layer is achievement smile.

Any further help appreciated big_smile.

Tried Cinelerra. Looks weird. And tells me something about low /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax value. Let's see how it works.

Also tried community/kdenlive-svn which crashed right after showing big_smile

Re: Capture videos for Youtube

LiVES is the most similar to Adobe Premiere that I have seen. Make it a try.

But if you need a more professional artwork, you can use wine and use the real Adobe Premiere. Is the best program I have seen for editing video.

But if you want to do a more simply and effective task, and you only have for recording a Microphone and a Webcam, you can use Avidemux combined with Audacious. Audacious for the audio part, and avidemux for the mixing video-audio part. I don't remember if Avidemux can capture Video from any source, virtualdub can...
