IRC. Move to another Network - PLEASE

That is annoying. NO, I WONT register my nickname or whatever (i dont even know how to) just because THEY have got problems with spam. Just move to another network please. I recomment QuakeNet. It's always stable, handy, well managed.

Please! That Network is really crap.

Re: IRC. Move to another Network - PLEASE

You might want to take this to the devs in the mailing list rather than here, you'll probably get a much quicker response from someone who might be able to do something about it.

And as friendly advice, get some more support for your argument before you do so and ask politely. If you go in there like the Ion3 guy did, you'll get nothing accomplished.

Won't happen.

But if you're unable or reluctant to read, then Arch isn't the right choice for you anyway.

Re: IRC. Move to another Network - PLEASE

You are more than welcome to start an #archlinux channel on another network. Our official channel is #archlinux on freenode.

Re: IRC. Move to another Network - PLEASE

Okay.

I found out that registering isnt as elaborate as I first exspected. That message "Please wait 120 seoncs before using REGISTER again" is slighly confusig because it make me think that I can't use register again before 120 seconds passed NOT that I HAVE to use it again after 120seconds.

Re: IRC. Move to another Network - PLEASE

AFAIR there is #archlinux on OFTC. Perhaps that might suit you.

Re: IRC. Move to another Network - PLEASE

The spamproblem that has been lately in #archlinux has not been related to the network. If the channel would have been located on quakenet instead of freenode as it is now I bet we would see this more often as Quakenet is crowded with asshats. And the solution would most likely have been the same.
Freenode is a nice and comfy place.

Re: IRC. Move to another Network - PLEASE

Oh the effort of registering your username...

So you want to relocate an entire userbase just because you can't be bothered to google how to register an irc username? roll
