hi guys
in the last days i´ve encountered a really strange problem with (probably) xorg on my laptop.
after i updated to the new kernel and different xorg version (thought it were three different versions in a row) my fonts seems to be blurred/diffuse/fuzzy. if i look at a random forum post there are some lines completley blurred/fuzzy/diffuse and the one above for example clear, when i scroll down or up the effect changes and the line that was effected before is now clear and another one is unsharp. (hard to discribe) really weird...:/
ok now you think "take a screenshot and we will see" => no way. itś begin to be really strange... i´ve taken a screenshot from my laptop display and view it on my tft display from the desktop workstation => absolutely nothing to see what can be associated to that behavior described above...
my conclusion to this issue would be that on the way from X to my laptop display something goes wrong, but why is it not visible on my tft/desktop?
seems to be that scrot (screenshot tool) captures the display on a different layer where the image data is intact...maybe a wild theory
i´m sorry that i can describe this issue only that abstract in lack of a screenshot. i hope it is more or less understandable.
due to the fact that i´m not a native speaker i think it makes it even harder
here is my xorg.conf (thought it would be relevant) http://pastebin.com/m275bccde
any help appreciated + feel free to ask if yiu need more information
thx

wow fast response
mhh i´ve added this line to my xorg.conf (according to your link and the wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … ize.2FDPI)
in the monitor section
DisplaySize 370 277 # 96 DPI @ 1400x1050
since my laptop display is 1400X1050 but i didn´t help.
the fonts are just bigger but the blurred effect still remains
notation:
it comes across my mind that it could be a physical display defect maybe due to the low temperatures here but i´ve tested it with a live cd and everything was fine...
nevertheless thx for your help
EDIT:
after i added this line to my xorg.conf i´ve got
xdpyinfo | grep -B1 dot
dimensions: 1280x1024 pixels (374x280 millimeters)
resolution: 87x93 dots per inch
before it was:
dimensions: 1280x1024 pixels (401x302 millimeters)
resolution: 81x86 dots per inch
now i have booted into the ubuntu live cd again and there isn´t the "bug" i described in the first post (clear fonts/representation - nice to look at) nor xdpyinfo says the same!
in the ubuntu live cd it says:
dimension 1400x1050 (370X277 millimeters)
resolution: 96x96 dots per inch
which also here matches the right values (have a 1400x1050 display)
so in this comparing ubuntu is the winner (uh oO)
