I just updated the system after the reboot my screen went to 1280x1024 resolution.
xrandr does not show 1680x1050 in the list anymore.
I checked the xorg.conf and it is included the line
# 1680x1050 59.95 Hz (CVT 1.76MA) hsync: 65.29 kHz; pclk: 146.25 MHz
Modeline "1680x1050_60.00" 146.25 1680 1784 1960 2240 1050 1053 1059 1089 -hsync +vsync
in the Monitor section
Generated with 'cvt' time ago...
What is going on? How can I fix?
Edit:
I found this ugly line in the X log:
(EE) fglrx(0): === [swlDalHelperAddCustomizeMode] === CWDDEDI_DisplayGetSetModeTimingOverride failed: 2

The latest catalyst has known problems with displaying at 1680x1050. Try downgrading.
