Download of mplayer--no depends(solved)

Why doesn't the command ....pacman -Sy mplayer....download all dependencies and mplayer?

It downloads only mplayer.

The depends are not listed in the download menu.

The mplayer is in extra and is listed as ...mplayer-1.orc2-1....8.5MB

The repo is extra archlinux mirror.

Pacman -Qi lists many depends.....

Mplayer does not respond in the system.

maybe you already have the dependencies  installed?

Note:  I mentioned it doesn't run after loading so the depends aren't there.  When I do load the depends, it works.

Why doesn't pacman download the depends menu?

You're still not fully explaining your problem.

First off, you use the term "menu". I am not sure if this is a translation issue or not, but pacman has no menus of any kind. If you are using an application which has a menu, please tell us which.

Secondly, is your system up to date? If not I could see a problem stemming from that, when you download the newest mplayer, but have older improper deps installed. Can you run pacman -Syu and retry?

Thanks for the reply.

My choice of words...menus.. to describe the list of items for pacman to install.. sorry if it isn't in the best of terms for the purpose.

I report that the entire ...pacman -Syu... is reposed in local repo. 

When I download vlc I do get the associated depends.  I decided to install them all in a folder in my repo which provides a local source to install it and it works well.

Trying the same technique on mplayer does not result in receiving the depends for inclusion in another folder.

Problem solved with added depends downloads and installed into local flash repo.
