Can I share Display :0 through local monitor and remote VNC session?

I have installed TightVNC in the hopes to do a "Screen sharing" setup à la Mac OS X/Windows XP/Vino setup where the local machine has display :0 on the monitor and a remote user can use a VNC client to connect to the same display :0 and share the mouse with the locally connected user.

I've noticed TightVNC creates new displays and I cannot connect to the default :0.

Is there a way to start an X session locally (display :0) and then start tightVNC to share that connection?

Thanks a lot!
