Upon doing a pacman -Syu to update all packages, my X11 failed: when started there'd be massive corruption and the cursor'd freeze.
I can't post logs until tomorrow, but it seemed that the error was reported as something in "drm". I tried disabling all modules and regenerating a xorg.conf file but neither helped. In the end the only way to get a working X11 was rollback to the -2 package...
so, in the meantime, is there a way to blacklist the -3 package so it won't be installed on a subsequant upgrade?
thanks,
Joel

Add this to pacman.conf:
IgnorePkg = xorg-server
Edit: forgot the "=", might save someone some trouble.

add "IgnorePkg = xorg-server" to pacman.conf under [options]
Edit: Ramses de Norre... whole 12 seconds faster

maybe the bugs section I should read around before posting

The bugs section indeed, having a look around first is a good idea...
Try searching the bug tracker - see if someone has already opened a bug report for something that looks like your problem. If you can't find anything open a new one - it should give you a little template outlining what to include. Try to describe the problem as clearly as possible and provide all the info that might be relevant (xorg.conf, Xorg.0.log, etc.) Use pastebin or attach files for things like logs or anything that would make the bug report difficult to read if posted directly.
