Hi,
My dad bought the same laptop and I'm experiencing the same problems. I removed Vista (without checking if it worked) in favor of the combination Windows XP and Archlinux.
Both OS'ses see the network connection, and are 'connected', but neither one receives an IP-address. I am now posting from a Sidux-livecd, which seems to get it to work, though I don't know where to check the ACPI-settings.
Did you solve your problem?

Problem solved in Windows XP by updating the BIOS to version F.07 - there supposedly was a problem related to ACPI. This update probably fixes the problem for linux too.
